Shopping in Diagon Alley
It started out as a day like any other. The sun rose above the horizon, birds were singing outside an open window to welcome the summer morning, and inside a little girl woke up with the anticipation that could only compared to that of Christmas Morning. It was Trinity Paige's birthday, and she was excited for this year particularly. Something was different about this year, and she couldn't wait to begin the day!
She got up excitedly, put on some jeans and a blue shirt, her favourite colour, and ran out of her bedroom down the stairs to the first floor. She and her father lived in a small house in a town called Hogsmeade, a wizarding village that was home to many shops and eateries and homes of witches and wizards in the magical world. For that was what they were... magical. That's what made this morning so exciting.
"Dad? DAD! Are you awake??" she called, running into the kitchen. As expected, he was sitting at the kitchen table, reading the Daily Prophet. It was a daily newspaper that was distributed to each wizarding home that subscribed to the publication. In the middle of the table sat an envelope, with a name on it: Trinity Paige.
"It's here! It's here!" Trin ran over to the kitchen table, tearing open the envelope. This was the letter that every wizarding child expected to get. The acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
"Someone is awake and ready this morning," Andrew Paige smiled at his daughter. "Are you excited for something in particular?"
Trin giggled at her father and read over her letter, announcing that she had been accepted to the prestigious school. Attached was a list of school supplies that would be purchased in Diagon Alley, another wizarding street where they could buy such things. The only problem was that they would have to use floo powder or apparation to get there.
"We have your party this evening... but there is lots of time beforehand to go shopping if you would like this morning?" Andrew reached out and pulled his daughter into his arms, hugging her tightly. "Happy birthday, sweetheart. I can't wait for you to experience Hogwarts. It was the best seven years of my life! Well, aside from when you were born, of course," he winked at her.
"Oh Dad..." Trin blushed and snuggled in close to him. "I would like to go shopping. We can get most of this stuff in Diagon Alley, right?"
"Yes ma'am, we can," Andrew nodded. "We'll be using floo powder to get there. Remember when we used it to go see the World Quidditch Cup last summer?"
Trin nodded. She remembered stepping into the floo powder in the fireplace, finding it the weirdest feeling. Thankfully there were no flames, but just powder. She had to speak her destination clearly and then she was transported to the wonderfulness that was the Quidditch Pitch where the world cup was held.
After they had finished breakfast, Trin and her father prepared themselves for travel. They stepped into the fireplace and were transported over to Diagon Alley, where they joined the several other Hogwarts students preparing for the upcoming year.
