September: Care of Magical Creatures

Trin looked up from her desk, hearing the professor call her name. She blinked and said, "My turn? Okay... My name is Trin Paige. I'm eleven years old, and was sorted into the Ravenclaw House. This makes perfect sense because some of my hobbies include reading, writing stories, and really just doing anything that lets me learn new things! My favourite creature is the niffler because they're so super cute!"   She looked at the board and thought about the next question. "Hmm... what creature am I Like? I think maybe a mermaid... I really love being underwater, and exploring the ocean floor. Plus, I'm a really good swimmer! "I think I'm excited to learn about the Mooncalf. They're so cute, and I want to know more about them!" Trin paused and went on. "I think that's what I'm most excited about in this class... I've read all about these ceratures and I can't wait to meet them for real!"   She hesitated before admitting,...

September: Herbology

Dear Diary,   It's me again, Trin Paige! I was just sorted into the Ravenclaw House! I had to think about a fun fact fof myself for class today. I think something I can tell you is that whenever I write something down, I remember it forever!   I don't really know that much about herbology. Growing up, I read all my dad's textbooks to prepare for Hogwarts, but I didn't really ever do any magic because we lived in Inverness. Once we moved to Hogsmeade though, I learned more about plants and potions and stuff but most of the time I was just focused on getting ready for Hogwarts.   I'm pretty excited to learn all sorts about healing plants that can be used to cure bruises and scrapes, 'cause I tend to be a bit accident prone!   If I were a plant, I think I would be mistletoe. I love Christmas, and I'm always hoping I'll meet my prince charming at Christmas time!   Sources:   My Imagination.

September: Defense Against the Dark Arts

There are some very important rules about duelling. When there is a duel, a witch or wizard challenges another one. If the duel is accepted, they plan a place and a time to meet for the duel. The two wizards bow to each other, and then the duel begins. There is also a "second", someone who replaces the wizard in the duel if something happens to them.   One of the rules for duelling is that there cannot be any physical contact. If there isn't a plan to kill each other, they can agree on other specific limits as well.   One of the most important duels that happened was the duel between Lord Voldemort and Harry Potter. It happened in June of 1995, in Little Hangleton. They were in the graveyard after Lord Voldemort had returned. The Dark Lord used the Avada Kadavra killing curse and then Harry used Expelliarmus. This duel was unique because their wand cores were the same. The power from the two wands were blocked. Priori Incantatem, Harry's willpower, was alerted by Harr...

September: Charms

Trin took a deep breath when it was her turn and walked to the front of the class. "My name is Trinity Paige, but everyone calls me 'Trin'. I was sorted into the Ravenclaw House and I'm a half-breed. My dad is a wizard, and mom left us when I got my letter because she wasn't magical. After that, Dad and I moved to Hogsmeade."   She looked at the board and smiled back to the class, taking her wand out to show them. "This is my wand. It's ten and a half inches long and is made of Laurel and Peacock Feather. I think the wand chose me because people who own it are skilled in lots of different things, and I like learning all sorts of stuff! Apparently owners of the wand also are good at keeping secrets, which I am!"   Trin looked at the next question and remembered the answer from the professor's lecture. "The difference between charms and transfiguration is that charms only change things a little bit, and not for long. When you do a transfig...

September: History of Magic

Dear Future Trin Paige,   Well, right now you're eleven when writing this. You were just sorted into Ravenclaw House, which was no surprise to your dad. He was a Gryffindor, but he always knew you would be an Eagle!   Learning history is super important, right? I mean, it's helpful to learn about how we all came to where we are now. After all, everything that happened in the past affects what is going on today. Like you... remember how before coming to Hogwarts, Mum left? That really changed things a lot, didn't it? Dad said she couldn't handle us both being magic and she wasn't. She felt like she didn't know us anymore. When she left, it really hurt... but I guess it made sense. Dad and you moved to Hogsmeade, and it's been way better. No more hiding magic there! It was definitely an important event that changed your life forever!   So what are you doing now that you're in seventh year? I bet you're getting ready to take some post-graduate classes...

September: Potions

Dear Professor Bennett,   My name is Trin Paige. I’m in Ravenclaw House and am eleven years old. I was born in Inverness, Ireland, and my father was a wizard. My mom didn’t like that he had a whole second life, so she left us and we decided to move to Hogsmeade so we didn’t have to hide the fact that we were magical anymore.   I really don’t know how I feel about Potions. I figured it was one of those courses I should take, because it’s something all witches and wizards should know… and Dad says there are a lot of potions that are super useful… I just don’t really know much about them and I’m afraid to mess something up… but I guess you’ll help us with that, right?   There's not really a lot I know about this subject. Dad is more of a book-knowledge, magical creatures kind of wizard. He never really did much with potions or herbs or things, but he knew about them of course. I want to learn more about what potions are and how useful they are… Frankly I think charms and spe...

September - Great Hall

Image
After being sorted into Ravenclaw House during the Sorting Ceremony, Trin spent plenty of time in the Great Hall getting to know other students. The rest of her time was spent being busy with homework.
